Ursinus College Invitational 2019
Despite a blustery day, the Blue Hens managed to put up 15 new entries into the top ten all-time performance lists this past weekend! The team opened up the 2019 outdoor season at the Ursinus College Invitational in Collegeville, PA. Results are available here.
On the women’s side, Erin Scanlon made her debut for the team in the 100m. She ran 13.73, which is good for #3 all-time. In the 200m, Brittany Georges won overall in 26.87. Moving up to the 400m, we saw three new entries into the top ten all-time performance list. Morgan Gallagher, club record holder in the indoor 400m, secured a #2 all-time spot in 1:05.31. In the 4x400m, Gallagher and Einig were joined by Emily Hansell and Emma Lesnevich, where they ran a time of 4:41.67, which is good for #6 all-time. Kayleigh Miedreich and Erica Schmidheiser made waves in the jumping pits. Miedreich broke the club record in the high jump, clearing 1.47m. Schmidheiser also broke the previous club record, jumping 1.42m. Schmidheiser returned for the long jump, where her mark of 4.38m earned her a spot at #2 all-time.
On the men’s side, Greg Biddle placed 2nd overall in the open 400m. He finished in 52.67, which is #8 all-time and the 3rd fastest finish the club has seen in 5 years. Pat LaPorte placed 5th overall in the 800m, coming in at 2:06.56; LaPorte closed with a 61 second last lap. Another top finish came from Brandon Holveck, who finished 9th in the 1500m. His time was 4:25.02.
In the 5000m, we saw an array of excellent performances. Mike Durkin placed 1st overall in 16:13.06–his performance was followed by three personal bests for Evan Massa, Schuyler Reed, and Jacob Henry. Massa placed 5th in 16:42.29, Reed placed 6th in 16:43.97, and Henry placed 10th in 17:47.09.
Luke Mase ran a #5 all-time performance in the 110m hurdles of 18.44, and was followed by Pisey Yun, who ran a #7 all-time 20.20. Yun also competed in the 3000m steeplechase, where his 12:42.90 earned him #8 all-time. In the triple jump, Drew Huffer jumped 11.80m, which is #4 all-time.
