The Blue Hens raced at the UMBC Retriever Open on Sunday. The women’s team won overall and the men’s team took 3rd, as several club records were broken! Full results are available here.

The women’s team took for 1st place, being led by Brittany Georges, who scored 24 points, and Emily Hansell, who scored 20 points.

Brittany Georges won both the 100m and 200m in 12.93 and and 26.34, respectively. In the 100m, Georges was joined by Jenna Jackson, who placed 3rd in 14.30. The 400m saw another team member break their own record when Krista Charamella won overall in 1:03! Emma Lesnevich was behind her in 1:13, finishing 3rd.

Emily Hansell won the 800m in 2:37 and the 1500 in 5:08! In the 800m, Elise LaFramboise finished 3rd in 3:06. LaFramboise returned to win the 3000m steeplechase, setting a club record in 12:42.

The women’s team swept the relays, which included the 4×100, 4×400, and 4×800. Georges and Jackson, along with Madi Pepe and Jess Bishop, broke another club record in the 4×100, winning the race in 55.43. In the 4×400, Charamella, Lesnevich, Hansell, and Georges won in 4:46. The girls won once again in the 4×800, which included Hansell, Charamella, LaFramboise, and Lesnevich–their time was 11:21.

In the field events, Georges and Jackson went 2-3 in the long jump. Georges’ mark was 14′ 2.25″, and Jackson made a jump of 13′ 10.5″.

For the men, top finishes from Chris Kitson, Matt Ward, Brandon Lichtenstein, and Brandon Farzad led them to 3rd place.

Brandon Lichtenstein finished 2nd in the 200m, crossing the line in 24.50. The 400m saw a photo finish, where Matt Ward was edged out by UMBC’s Andrew Bowling by 0.01 seconds–Ward ran a time of 52.43.

In the 1500, Chris Kitson made a strong return to track after months of nursing an injured knee. He won the race in 4:09! The men’s 4×800, composed of Lichtenstein, Jayke Marsh, Sean Goodwin, and Alex MacIntyre, finished 2nd in a blazing 10:55.

For the field events, Brandon Farzad broke his own club record in the shotput. He threw 31.97 feet, taking 2nd place.
