On September 16th, the Blue Hens raced on their home course at White Clay Creek State Park in the Delaware Invitational! Results can be found here. 18 men raced in the 8k and 22 women raced in the 6k.
The men’s team placed 2nd, just 2 points shy of winning the meet. The top finisher was junior Sam Hete, who placed 2nd overall in 27:20.34. Senior Chris Kitson ran a time of 27:51.76 to place 4th, and junior Brandon Holveck placed 8th in 28:19.52. Freshman Danny Valenti make his collegiate cross country debut, placing 29th in 30:48.47.
The women’s team placed 3rd overall. The first to cross the finish line representing the team was freshman Julia MacMasters, who placed 11th in 25:04.24. After her, freshman Elise LaFramboise and sophomore Abby Kaye finished together, placing 23rd and 24th respectively. LaFramboise ran 26:03.92 and Kaye ran 26:04.31. Senior Meghan Iatarola ran 26:30.75 to place 34th.
The Blue Hens ran well this year, contrasting last year’s race where intense heat prevented some of the women from finishing, which led officials to cancel the men’s race altogether.
