Harrington HUBCAP Readiness Team

Delaware Readiness Teams are a state-wide initiative that offers a unique opportunity for communities to build strong and reciprocal linkages between early learning and K-12 schools and to support young children’s readiness for school and for life.  DSG was approached by the Harrington HUBCAP (Helping Us Build Children and People) Readiness Team to develop and facilitate a public engagement process for the completion of a community assessment and a locally developed action plan. DSG collaborated with team leadership to design a strategy that attracted participation from and created partnerships between families, early childhood and K-12 educators, health care, human services, and civic leaders to make school readiness and the needs of young children a high priority. The result of a day-long workshop held in the Lake Forest School District was a better understanding of community strengths and needs to better design environments and instruction that support students’ readiness and success.
