>> Health Science Advisement and Evaluation Committee (HSAEC)

HSAEC is a University committee composed of University faculty and local physicians, who evaluate the credentials of perspective candidates for professional school admission.  The committee meets every June to evaluate students and send recommendations.  It is advised that students get the proper paperwork from Ms. Ramona Wilson (115 Wolf Hall) as soon as possible in order to begin the HSAEC portfolio.  The HSAEC portfolio and recommendation is required for most schools for acceptance!

Here’s a quick overview of the materials needed for the portfolio:

  • Personal statement
  • Resume
  • Transcripts
  • Letters of recommendation (at least 6, see site for more details)
  • Small self-photo

Students will be also be evaluated on their GPAs and 2 interviews!

>> Medical Scholars Program

The Medical Scholars Program is a combined 8 year academic program for students who are certain that they want to become physicians and who want a program of study that blends the scientific and cultural aspects of the profession. It leads to a B.A. in Liberal Studies from the University of Delaware and an M.D. from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.

Students can apply to the Interest Group after attending an Orientation Meeting during the spring semester of their freshmen year.
