GREGORY GUANNEL
Director, Caribbean Green Technology Center, University of the Virgin Islands
Dr. Guannel is the Director of the Caribbean Green Technology Center at the University of the Virgin Islands, whose mission is to enhance the resilience and sustainable development of the U.S. Virgin Islands by working on applied research projects and providing thought leadership on topics related to civil infrastructure resilience, renewable energy technology and policy, sustainable material management and water resources management. Many of his current projects and outreach efforts are based on deep collaborations with territorial agencies, non-governmental agencies and other groups who are interested in the sustainable development and climate adaptation of the territory. Dr. Guannel has a Master’s in Public Works from the Ecole Supérieure des Travaux Public (Paris, France), a Master’s in Coastal and Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University.
