Spotlight: Kirsten McGregor
Helping Islands Build Back Better
Kirsten McGregor founded Sagax Associates, an economic recovery and resilience consulting firm, in Delaware 2013. Today, she and her team of cross-sector specialists leverage decades of strategic planning and economic recovery expertise to manage complex initiatives both in the U.S. and abroad. Kirsten has held prominent roles as Senior Policy Advisor on President Obama’s Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force, Deputy Director of the Delaware Economic Development Office, and Lead Federal Economic Recovery Coordinator for New Jersey following Hurricane Sandy.
Kirsten is serving her second year as a Senior Fellow at the University of Delaware Biden School of Public Policy’s Institute for Public Administration providing guidance for their Recover Delaware initiatives and she is an affiliate for UD’s Island Policy Lab. For over two years she provided comprehensive recovery services in the Caribbean for the US Economic Development Administration and FEMA following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Sagax Associates is currently working with the Virgin Islands Research Tech Park on funding strategies for some of their complex economic development initiatives including the Governor’s Restart Task Force Strategy. Kirsten is a member of the National Association of Development Organizations Foundation Research Board Committee supporting regional economic development organizations throughout the country with technical assistance and capacity building.
Kirsten is passionate about economic resilience and is working with coastal and island communities to cultivate blue/green economy regional industry clusters focusing on intergovernmental collaboration, community engagement, and diverse stakeholder support to form structured, mission-driven organizations that strategically promote blue-green entrepreneurship, workforce development, business attraction, academic research, education for youth, infrastructure, and private investment.
