PROJECTS

BOLIVIA

(CURRENT PROJECT)

In 2021 EWB-UD partnered with Engineers In Action (EIA) to build a pedestrian suspension bridge in Bolivia during the summer of 2022 on six week trip. This bridge will give the residents of Jatun Pampa, Bolivia access to schools and farms. This is especially important for these residents because they are majority farmers and their primary income is plants and animals. We are currently in the process of designing the bridge and working with bridge corp members to ensure we have the correct measurements and elements.

MALAWI

(CURRENT PROJECT)

EWB-UD is has been partnered with communities in the Sakata region of Malawi since 2014. Within this region, we identified the villages of Mphero, Chilimani, Liti, and Nkagula to be in need of an improved water supply infrastructure. So far, the Malawi project team has successfully implemented three borehole wells in the communities of Mphero and Chilimani. While still upholding our relations with these communities to monitor the effectiveness of the new wells, we conducted an assessment trip to the villages of Liti and Nkagula in 2019 to identify locations in need of a water source. Then in 2021, the Malawi team conducted a remote implementation to rehabilitate existing boreholes in Liti and Nkagula. An assessment trip is in planning for Summer 2022!

PHILIPPINES

(CURRENT PROJECT)

The EWB-UD Phillippines project team is currently partnered with the community of Ubujan on the island of Bohol working on a water project. This community is highly vulnerable due to severe weather on the island and suffers from poor water quality. Our project will help address their water and sanitation needs in a sustainable fashion. In January of 2020, we embarked on our second implementation trip, marking the completion of a water sanitation and distribution center.
