Moni! Today, the team visited Mphero, the site of our first wells drilled in 2016, to inspect a malfunctioning well that the community mentioned to us during our last meeting. We stopped at VIP’s field office to pick up spare parts and rods, then drove to Mphero.

After a short meeting to explain our plans to the chief, we met with the area mechanic and borehole committee. The committee members took the well pump apart and we measured the water level to determine if there are enough rods in the well to reach the water. After putting the well pump back together, we discussed future plans to repair the well. 

For lunch, the team had milkshakes, burgers, and fries at Steers in downtown Zomba then headed back to Naming’azi Farm. We talked to Ernesto about plans for drilling tomorrow, then ate dinner and prepared for the next day. It was a clear night, so we could see the Milky Way galaxy and a lot of stars.
