ReachOut: Demolition & K-12 Outreach (But not at the same time)

by | Nov 15, 2017 | ReachOut

During the month of November, EWB-UD ReachOut had two exciting, yet very different, events. Our first event involved EWB-UD members demolishing a water tank at the farm on South Campusto make room for a different structure. Don’t worry: safety equipment was used! Coming full circle, the water tank was originally built by EWB-UD members years ago as a smaller model of the water tank built during the Cameroon Project. Another event which took place just last week was “Family Friday” held in collaboration with the College of Engineering K-12 outreach. EWB-UD members were able to present to local 5th-8th graders and their parents about the organization and then lead the students through a water filtration activity. Dean Vaughan from the College of Engineering was also able to speak with the students about the importance of STEM in higher education and finding their passion. A big thanks to Dean Vaughan and the COE K-12 Outreach office for making the event such a great success, and also to the EWB-UD members that helped out on South Campus and the Family Friday event!
