Over the course of the semester, EWB-UD volunteers aided in planning a pop-up project as a part of the Downes Elementary School Safe Routes To School Extended Outreach. The project involved setting up a stretch of protected bike lane using chalk, duct tape, traffic barrels, and a custom wood stencil along Casho Mill Road by Downes Elementary School over the past weekend.The pop-up project was showcased this week, May 8-12, during the Downes Bike to School Week which was kicked off with scores of Downes students biking to school under the supervision of EWB-UD volunteers and members of the Newark community. For the set-up of the pop-up project along with helping out at the kick-off event, EWB-UD volunteers contributed over 30 man-hours of service. Thanks to those that volunteered for making this project as successful as it was!
