A new climate economy report calls for accelerated low-carbon transformation
The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate has released a report calling for decoupling of economic growth and emissions growth. The report, titled ‘Better Growth, Better Climate: The New Climate Economy Report,’ launched at UN Headquarters in New York finds that well-designed policies in resource efficiency, investment in infrastructure, and stimulating innovation could be critical to overcoming market, policy and institutional barriers to low-carbon growth. The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate, and its flagship project The New Climate Economy, were set up to help governments, businesses and society make better-informed decisions on how to achieve economic prosperity and development while also addressing climate change. The Global Commission on the Economy and Climate is chaired by former President of Mexico Felipe Calderón, and comprises former heads of government and finance ministers, and leaders in the fields of economics, business and finance.
