In 2019, Drs DeLiberty and Schorse began an initiative to expose students at Newark High School to geospatial science and technology (GPS, GIS, remote sensing, drones, digital mapping and spatial analysis). Students were first introduced to geospatial science and technology through a weekly Activity Block, and later had the opportunity to enroll in a Dual Enrollment course at UD (GEOG372). In addition to formal instruction in the geosciences, UD faculty are working with the NHS Honor Society to incorporate geospatial technology into its sustainability initiative. UD undergraduate students were recruited to serve as TAs for each of these initiatives.
