Holiday Community Service Opportunities

Donations of winter items are now being collected!

Over Thanksgiving Break, the Future Discovery Team graciously set up and
decorated the Christmas tree at the 4-H Office. As has been the tradition for the last
eight years, we are asking clubs to help us decorate the tree with hats, gloves,
and scarves.
Right before Christmas, the donations will be delivered to  the New
Castle Adopt-a-Family organization. They will make our gifts available to the families they have approved for their program. Their members can pick the hats, gloves, and scarves they need for themselves or they would like to give to a family members as gifts.
Please add warmth to your heart and to the spirit of the Christmas season by helping us collect these pieces of clothing to keep many deserving members of our community warm and safe during the upcoming predicted cold winter. Last year we collected over 100 items! We would love to match that number this year!
Now that the smell of winter is in the air,
please show others how much you care.
Come in and donate warm winter mittens, hats, gloves, and scarfs so others can stay warm in the cold air.
Place your new donated items on the Christmas tree, so it will not be so bare.
Thank you helping us spread holiday cheer!!

Code Purple Donations being accepted through December 18!

3B

Brae’s Brown Bags (3B) is a non-profit organization that was created by Braden Mannering that provides healthy and delicious snacks to individuals in need. Braeden, a 12-year old student from Bear, DE has supplied 4,163 brown bags to thousands of people since July 2013.

Braeden’s efforts are significant, but he could not reach nearly as many people if it were not for the donations and contributions of many community members.  Braeden has collaborated with several 4-H clubs throughout the county to continue striving to provide a hope and nourishment to each person that receives a bag from 3B.

3B is in need of the following items:

Snack Foods

  • Fruit snacks (made with real fruit)
  • Individual size snack bags: gold fish, pretzels, trail mix, animal crackers, etc.
  • Protein bars, breakfast bars, low-fat pop tarts

Weather Protection Items

  • Hand warmers
  • Gloves
  • Scarves

Toiletries

  • Travel-size shampoo
  • Deodorant
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush

Children’s Items

  • New or gently used books
  • Crayons

  • Activity Pads

*Donations are greatly appreciated, however, it is important to realize that nutritional value is very important to Braeden and 3B. All 3B bags are below 180 calories, so please do not donate snacks that could be considered unhealthy.
