Member Activities

This Fall, ASME UD is participating in a variety of activities that allow students to use their engineering skills in real life situations. Please note that we also hold tours to local industrial sites and host speakers on campus, but you must have filled out “Agreement to Participate” on StUDent Central to partake in build events. If any of the following perk your interest, please email UDASME@gmail.com to learn more. Also, please fill out our super short (2 minutes or less) survey to express interest in joining a competition or committee!

SAE Aero Design

Design a gas powered airplane that can fly! The plane will have a wingspan of about 10-15 feet, be remote control powered, and have the ability to lift loads. The goal is to create a plane that we can compete at competitions in the area. Contact UDASME@udel.edu for more information about meeting times!

Robot Challenge

Design a robot that can run, jump, lift, and much more for the ASME National Build Competition at this year’s I-MECHE conference in April.
Meetings: Fridays at 2:00 PM in Spencer 109

Speaker Series Crew

Help reach out to corporate contacts, and help with event planning & day-of logistics. Great networking opportunity & free food!
Contact UDASME@udel.edu for more information

Pumpkin Chunkin

Construct an aparatus to hurl a pumpkin to a target most accurately. This year built a trebuchet and ended up scoring 3rd out of 20 collegate teams. Last year (photos) we got second place in the ballista category, and came close to winning the year prior.
Currently on hiatus until next fall
