The University of Delaware Club Cross Country team will travel to Lexington, KY on November 9th, and will compete in the NIRCA Championship on November 10th. The Men’s team was the 9th of 10 teams to qualify during their Regional Championship, and the Women’s squad was 6th of 10.
Championship Races
On the Men’s side, senior Brandon Holveck and sophomore Brandon Quanci have taken turns leading the Hens. Sophomore Michael Durkin has also returned to the scene after battling an ankle injury. He is expected to pair up with Holveck and Quanci as one of Delaware’s top scorers. The pack is also comprised of Schuyler Reed, Nicholas Fafel, Paul Filipow, and Evan Massa, who have all improved significantly as the season progressed. Each of these athletes has something to prove on November 10th.
The Women’s squad has adopted the philosophy of pack running to a T. Within the past four contests, the Hens have managed to have five members finish within 12 seconds of one another. This type of pack running can make or break championship wins. As captains Emily Magoon and Elise LaFramboise lead the Hens during practice, the rest of the unit, including Haley Reid, Abigail Kaye, Ana Dacey, Talia Brookstein-Burke and Natalie Fuhr, have all stepped up. They are excited to roll in Lexington!
“It has been a pleasure working with this team,” President Sean Goodwin quotes. “Everyone on this squad is highly motivated, ambitious, and extremely prepared. We’re going to have a great showing in Lexington, I can promise you that.”
