Yesterday the team competed in the Happy Valley Invitational hosted by Penn State! It was held at the Horace Ashenfelter Indoor Track in State College, PA. Complete results have been posted online here.
Brittany Georges continued her trend of strong performances in short sprints during the 60m, where she finished in 8.24, placing 3rd overall. She also got a 3rd place finish in the 200m in 27.76.
On the men’s side, Jeff Storm raced in the 60m, posting a time of 7.38 to finish 7th overall, winning his heat. In the 400m, freshmen Mike Mattamira and Matt Ward did well against a field of 61 runners. Mattamira ran 52.45 to place 6th overall, and Ward ran 53.23 to place 8th overall.
Greg Biddle was another freshman standout, who placed 5th in the 800m against another large field of 49 runners. He finished the race in 2:01.97. Brandon Holveck competed in the 3,000m–he crossed the finish in 9:03.76 to finish 7th.
To close out the meet, Mattamira, Ward, and Biddle were joined by Ben Cushman to compete in the 4×400. They finished in 3:38.93, placing 4th overall.
Also, shoutout to Elise LaFramboise, Emily Hansell, Emma Bateman, and Emily Magoon for breaking the team’s Distance Medley Relay record in 14:00.40!
Great job to everyone who competed this weekend! The team is now looking to the spring season and will be spending the next month training–our official schedule will be available soon.
