The Pumpkin Challenge Fall Track Meet was held on October 29th at St. John’s University. Despite heavy rain, the sprint team had a strong showing; the women’s team placed 2nd and the men’s team placed 3rd! Full results are here.
The women’s team scored 26 points to take 2nd place, while St. John’s won out of 6 teams.
In the 100m, Delaware went 1-2, with Brittany Georges setting a meet record of 13.22, and Madi Pepe coming in 2nd place in 13.84. Georges also set a meet record in the 200m, taking the crown in 28.25! Krista Charamella also placed in the 200m, taking 3rd place in 29.75. In the 800m, freshman Jessie Robarge won with a time of 2:50.00.
Delaney Sugrue ran 18.43 to place 3rd in the 100m hurdles, and was joined by Georges and Pepe, as well as Caroline O’Gorman, in the 4×100 to place 2nd in 59.02. Pepe also placed 2nd in the triple jump, where she jumped 8.63 meters.
For the men, they scored 17 points. This earned them 3rd place, behind St. John’s and West Virginia.
Brandon Lichtenstein placed 3rd in the 200m, running a time of 24.07. Mike Mattamira completed the 400m in 51.81, which put him in 2nd place. In the 800m, Sean Goodwin finished 2nd in 2:07.71.
Lichtenstein and Mattamira ran the 4x100m with Brandon Farzad and Nate Reynolds, where they placed 2nd in 46.78. Lichtenstein also scored in the long jump, where he jumped 5.91m, placing 3rd. Farzad placed in the shot put, where he threw 9.48m to finish 2nd. Ben Cushman and Evan Kipp ran the 3-legged race in 1:39.87, despite having a stumble, to place 2nd!
