Robinson, professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Delaware, has been selected to the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE) College of Fellows, Class of 2011. Civil and Environmental Engineering doctoral candidate Michelle Oswald has received the 2010 Outstanding Collegiate Student Award from the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). The award was presented at the Annual Conference for Women Engineers (WE10) held Nov. 4-6 in Orlando, Fla. As a student member of SWE since 2003, Oswald has worked to strengthen and improve opportunities for women in engineering. She is currently a regional collegiate SWE senator and serves on the SWE National Conference Planning Board and the SWE Collegiate Interest Committee. Lori Pollock, professor in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences and ADVANCE member, has been selected as a “distinguished scientist” by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society. Only the top 10 percent of ACM members achieve this elite designation. Pollock’s research has been funded through 15 National Science Foundation and six other agency research grants totaling more than $6.5 million.
