About ABCC:
ABCC is a private organization with a mission to provide connections between animals and people through education and interaction via demonstration of natural behaviors. As a consequence of our programs we instill a sense of inspiration and conservation stewardship amongst guests. We are able to do this by working with our animal partners using voluntary approaches to animal training and communication. Our educational free flight programs are featured at schools, State Parks, National Wildlife Refuges, Universities and Zoos throughout the US.

Expectations for all Positions:
Will support staff and operation. Able and willing to take instructions and implement program as directed; Able to work independently or together in a team to achieve set goals of ABCC; Be comfortable interacting and speaking with visitors; Be willing to learn and reach competency in caring for multiple bird species; Daily care, food prep, feeding and cleaning of bird enclosures; Follow husbandry and training protocol as directed; Able to work indoors and outdoors; Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs; Must be drug and drama free; Other duties as assigned.

Description:
ABCC has a seasonal bird show trainer and educator position available for the passionate individual with the desire to work with free-flight birds. The position can be renewable and/or advance into additional role. The suitable professional will have the opportunity to learn and work in a team with a focus on freeflight, natural behaviors. The position requires hands-on animal care, husbandry, bird training, public interaction and presentation.

Our diverse bird team includes: Jays, Conures, Amazons, Macaws, Hawks, Falcons, Owls, Vultures, Hornbills and Storks to name a few.
The position will receive training for husbandry, care and training for working with a free-flight bird collection.
Our team members are expected to be honest, reliable, organized and work well together to accomplish ABCC’s goals. Staff are expected to work weekends, holidays and evenings as needed.  We work in multiple locations and the ability to be flexible in relocation as assigned is preferred.  Housing is provided at Zoo show locations.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a passion for working with birds and be motivated to receive instructions and open to learning. Experience with animal behavior, wildlife education, animal care or related experiences preferred.

Description:
We have two internship sessions available to qualified students this summer. The position is for thirty four hours, five days per week. The position is based on the east coast and may be required to participate in weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings. Flexible schedule and ability to travel is preferred.
The position requires hands-on animal care, husbandry, bird training, and public interaction.
