UD Student Voting & Civic Engagement
Welcome and thank you for visiting the University of Delaware’s Student Voting and Civic Engagement Committee (SVCE) where we aim to create a civically engaged campus through community collaborations.
Mission:
As UD aims to develop future leaders and citizens for active civic participation in their identified communities, the work of the Steering Committee amplifies opportunities for students to develop the skills necessary to serve in these roles.
Purpose:
Established in the fall of 2019, the UD Student Voting and Civic Engagement Steering Committee was created to encourage students to vote, engage in their communities and practice civil discourse through campus collaborations. Committee members represent all facets of the University community, including faculty, staff and students. They are responsible for hosting the annual National Voter Registration Day on the Green, events with politicians and policy practitioners, and providing resources to make completing civic duties accessible.
Vision:
To encourage cohesive collaboration across campus departments and offices, ensuring opportunities for all student populations to be civically engaged and politically aware.
Objectives:
- Increase and maintain student voter registrations and TurboVote subscriptions
- Increase student voter participation and accessibility for all elections (local, state and federal)
- Increase opportunities for students to engage in civic and community engagement projects
- Encourage civil discourse and dialogue amongst students of all backgrounds
