Purpose: To determine if eating peanuts every day can improve overall cardiovascular health and memory in humans.
Background: Peanuts are a rich source of polyphenols, monounsaturated fats, protein and contain highest levels of niacin, arginine, vitamin E, folate, and thiamin.
About the study: The Peanut Study was a 12-week intervention study is looking for adults who were 60-80 years old and not taking blood pressure medication. Participants were asked to consume 2 oz. of peanut or no nuts daily for 12 weeks. Cardiovascular risk factors and memory performance were assessed before and after the 12 weeks intervention.
