This week, “Campus Voices” host Richard Gordon and intern Abbie Sarfo were on location at the Old College Gallery, talking to artists Donald McLaughlin and Dennis Beach about their exhibit “Color/Form.”

McLaughlin, a painter, and Beach, a painter-sculptor, are alumni of the University’s Department of Art and Design. Though created independently, the works of McLaughlin and Beach are remarkably cohesive— both deal in high-key, vibrant color palettes. Along with their use of color, their juxtaposition of abstract paintings and precise sculptures result in a playful collaboration.

The first alumni artists to be featured in the gallery, McLaughlin and Beach gave insight into their creative processes: whether it’s nature, color or political commentary, each composition has a source of inspiration.

“Color/Form” is on display in the Old College Gallery until Dec. 11. If you would like to visit other University Museums, they are located in Penny and Mechanical Halls. The galleries are open Wednesday through Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Wednesdays, they are open until 8:00 p.m.
