Congratulations to Bob Leiby and Cory Showard for providing two excellent suggestions: Fusarium Wilt and Bacterial Wilt. Bacterial wilt is on my mind, being an entomologist. It is vectored by cucumber beetles. There is an in-field diagnostic test you can try to perform. Cut the stem with a knife and put the cut ends back together. Then slowly pull then apart. The sap will rope out a considerable distance as they are slowly pulled apart.
