  • To encourage students to develop consistent patterns of analytical thinking
  • To encourage students to seek learning for enjoyment and information
  • To expand students intellectual, cultural, and social growth
  • To contribute to the development of a positive self-image
  • To familiarize students with college selection, admission requirements, and financial aid process
  • To assist students with career exploration, provide an overview of the world of work, and prepare students for career decision-making.

Upward Bound History

Federally funded through the U.S Department of Education. The program provides a supportive and educational resource to assist students in navigating the college admissions process. We offer numerous services to inform students and parents, while working directly with public school districts, towards achieving educational success and development.

Academic Support

The academic year program is a series of specialized tutoring, workshops, and campus visits that happen once a month on a Saturday.

6-Week Summer Residential Experience

The summer component is a mandatory six-week summer institute where students are exposed to college-level classes and student life experiences led by highly trained faculty and staff. Students commute and reside on campus during this time.

Test Prep: PSAT/SAT

Students recieve a $500+ scholarship as Juniors to participate in the University of Delaware’s SAT Boot Camp. They have all materials supplied free of charge and access to the SAT Suite from ETS for 1 yr. SAT and PSAT prep is given through out the academic year.

Cost

The program is FREE to the students and their families. A grant provided by the U.S. Department of Education provides for all student room and board expenses, instructional support, tuition fees, and a weekly stipend for each student during the summer program.
