How will Classic UBC’s services help me?

Upward Bound Programs (UBP) are federally funded programs designed to assist students in developing the academic skills and personal growth necessary for successful completion of high school and admission to a four-year university.

Upward Bound Programs at the University of Delaware are for New Castle County area high school students who demonstrate a strong desire to complete higher education.

These programs supplement students’ high school experience with academic preparation, career exploration, and cultural/social-development opportunities. UBP consists of Upward Bound Classic and Upward Bound Math & Science.

Upward Bound Classic will help you:

Increase your self-confidence concerning enrolling in a college or university
Improve your study skills
Enhance your awareness of the college admissions process and student support services available on college campuses
Increase your knowledge of careers and career options
Provide you with an opportunity to live in a supervised university residence hall
Provide you with an opportunity to visit other college campuses, cultural events, and have FUN!

How much does it cost?

The program is free to the students and their families. A grant provided by the U.S. Department of Education provides for all student room and board expenses, instructional support, tuition fees, and a weekly stipend for each student during the summer program.

Eligibility Information

The Upward Bound Classic program is a Federally Funded TRIO educational program. We are required to determine whether our applicants meet the criteria of first-generation and/or low-income status prior to their acceptance into the program.

Please upload a copy of your U.S. Individual Tax Return (Form 1040, Pages 1 & 2) to verify your income status. If you do not file an Income tax return, we must received either a signed document from the student's parent regarding family income or verification of family income from another government source (i.e. Social Security statement or signed statement from caseworker). If you prefer to mail or fax your tax return you may send it to our office 12 W. Please upload a picture, pdf, or Word document with your student's valid social security number. Students must have a valid Social Security number in order to receive their federal funds such as stipends, participation in college tours ect. All documents are secured and destroyed once the application is printed for review. Only the Program Coordinator will receive this document. *The application is not considered complete until this information has been received.
