The Rising Stars in Soft and Biological Matter Symposium, co-sponsored by UChicago and the University of California San Diego MRSECs, provides a platform for exceptional early-career soft matter, energy materials, and biological matter scientists to present their work. Symposium participants are selected based on a track record of research accomplishments and demonstrated contributions to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM.
The 2024 virtual symposium will take place December 11 and 12, 2024.
To apply, submit the following by October 31:
Curriculum Vitae
Manuscript, preprint, or poster on the research to be presented
Personal statement (<300 words) describing your experiences and career aspirations in STEM research/education
Letter of recommendation from research advisor or other mentor can be emailed separately to chrisahn@uchicago.edu with subject line “Recommendation letter for 2024 Rising Star (full name of applicant)”
