David Martin, the Karl W. and Renate Böer Chair in the University of Delaware’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering, has been named a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) as part of the 2025 class. Martin is recognized for his pioneering research on advanced materials that bridge electronic devices and living tissue, leading to significant advancements in biomedical technologies such as neural prosthetics and cochlear implants.
NAI Fellowship is the highest professional distinction awarded exclusively to inventors. Collectively, members of the 2025 class hold more than 5,300 U.S. patents and include recipients of the Nobel Prize, the National Medals of Science and Technology & Innovation, and members of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
