Willard Agri‐Service Internship

Willard Agri‐Service represents a family of businesses that center around agriculture services, supplies and products. Our family of companies focuses on the manufacture, sale, and application of custom liquid fertilizers, micronutrients, and crop protectants.

Our range of services includes nutrient management planning, the sale and installation of yield monitors, GPS receivers, data collection loggers, and crop management planning through the exclusive use of the HighQ Decision Support System. The HighQ Decision Support System utilizes the latest GPS and data collection technology to bring valuable information to each of our customers.

Since 1970, Willard has been providing the highest quality of agricultural products and services in the industry. One of our recruiting efforts focuses on college students in the agricultural field. Our intern program provides work related experience to supplement class experience, and possible long‐term employment opportunities.

Some of the responsibilities as an intern would be:

  • Evaluate field conditions and communicate situation to Field Representative on an as needed basis.
  • Perform systematic crop surveillance, record keeping, and diagnostics.
  • Collect and submit soil and tissue samples.
  • Ability to communicate issues quickly and effectively with the salesperson that you are working with in daily activities to enhance sales growth.

Qualifications for an internship would include:

  • Attendance at a college or university in an agricultural curriculum.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain vehicles/equipment assigned.
  • Must be a self‐starter with a positive attitude.
  • Understanding of crop production business.
  • Be able to read and understand aerial field maps.
  • Basic knowledge of field crops and pest identification.
  • Flexibility and ability to take direction.
  • Strong communication, problem solving and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and ask questions when clarification is necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work alone unsupervised.
  • Workings as an intern requires a lot of walking.
  • Ability to work a variety of tasks outdoors in all types of weather conditions in possible 90+ weather.
  • Ability to work Monday to Saturday and possibly but rarely on Sundays and extended hours during peak busy seasons 8 hours+ shifts.
  • Ability to work in conditions like mud, dust, wet crops, etc.
  • Ability to bend over and perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks like stand counts for multiple hours at a time.

What to Wear:

  • Pants such as jeans, khakis or field pants
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Sleeved shirts

What not to wear:

  • Shorts of any kind
  • Leggings, Yoga Pants or Sweatpants
  • Tank Tops

Truck

  • A truck will be assigned during your time working as an intern.
  • Vehicle policy will strictly be inhered to.
  • Fuel card will be proved for Willard use of truck.
  • A truck inspection will be completed at the start of the internship that will be part of the Intern Safety Orientation Checklist.
