PLSC467 Section 012: Plant Genes and Genomes (3 credits)
Spring 2025
Instructor: Dr. Qi Mu
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:20 PM – 3:40 PM
Prerequisites required – see flyer below
Step into the world of plant genetics with Plant Genes and Genomes. This course dives deep into the molecular and quantitative aspects of plant genetics. Students will explore core concepts like gene structure, chromosomal mechanics, and epigenetics, as well as cutting-edge techniques like QTL mapping, Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS), genomic prediction, and gene editing. Through lectures, discussions, and hands-on exercises, you’ll discover how genetic information shapes plant traits and responses.
