I hope this message finds you well. My name is Elizabeth Cofone, and I serve as the Intern Coordinator at Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit big cat rescue and educational facility based in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. Our mission is to provide lifelong care to big cats that have been abused, neglected, or otherwise left without a safe home. As a true sanctuary, we do not engage in buying, selling, breeding, or trading animals, as we believe these beautiful animals deserve to spend the rest of their lives in a nurturing and secure environment.
We are currently seeking candidates for our six-month winter internship program, running from January to June. This internship offers a rare and valuable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience working with big cats in a professional and safe environment. As a no-contact facility, we prioritize the safety of both our interns and the animals, ensuring a learning experience that is both enriching and secure. Additionally, the internship can be structured to meet for-credit or non-credit requirements, depending on your institution’s policies.
Understanding the challenges students face in securing meaningful experience with exotic animals, we are eager to connect with educational institutions that can offer this opportunity to their students. The skills and knowledge gained during this internship will be invaluable for those pursuing careers in wildlife conservation, animal care, or veterinary sciences.
