Helena Agronomy and Sales Internship

JOB TITLE:              Agronomy and Sales Summer Intern – Eastern Business Unit

The Helena Agronomy and Sales Internship is a 12-week summer program that provides students with a look into the many career opportunities in the agriculture industry. Helena interns gain new experiences every day through a variety of agronomic and sales activities that assist both our locations and our customers.

Our interns join the Helena family from day one. Through our onboarding and training process, they learn about Helena’s culture and gain knowledge from our experienced support teams. Helena offers interns a unique chance to discover a variety of career paths through rewarding hands-on experiences.

What your day may look like

  • Reports directly to the Helena Branch Manager.
  • Develops sales skills and implements marketing strategies in both established and developing territories.
  • Observes and learns organizational skills, including sales preparation and time management.
  • Understands diverse production practices, product knowledge and product placement.
  • Calls on current and prospective customers as assigned.
  • Evaluates, documents, organizes and presents photos and data on Helena Product and seed plots.
  • Hands-on training with a minimum of 70 plus percent of time being spent in the field.
  • Gain exposure to various aspects of the Helena organization including customer service, agronomy, research, distribution, sales and marketing.
  • Coordinates and organizes a summer project related to specific branch goals.
  • Provides year-end presentation summarizing summer experience and projects to the Helena leadership team in a formal setting.

Education and experience needed for this position

  • 2.5 or higher grade point average.
  • Experience in the fertilizer, chemical and/or seed industry will merit strong consideration.
  • An understanding of production agriculture is preferred.
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Pre-employment drug screen is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

The work environment for this position is that of a typical office environment where the noise level is mostly quiet. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 10 or more pounds.
