Study Abroad this summer in Micronesia!

Greetings!

I wanted to share with you an opportunity to join my UD research group this summer in Micronesia as a recently added Study Abroad opportunity.  We will travel to exotic Chuuk, Micronesia for a month to search for U.S. aircraft lost in World War II that are associated with service members missing in action.  You would be intimately involved in every aspect of the work, from scanning the seafloor with cutting edge technology, learning about the historical records of this location, participating in an archeological dig, learning about and mapping coral reef communities, learning to work with large environmental databases, visiting historical locations on land, and experiencing a unique culture of the Pacific Islands.  You will be working alongside an interdisciplinary team (Marine Biologist, Historian, Archeologist, Engineer, Oceanographer, and Computer Scientist), while enjoying this beautiful remote coral atoll.  I have been traveling to Chuuk since 2018, and it is an amazing place–this experience will be life changing for you!

This will be an internship course (ENSC 464 – Environmental Internship) that focuses on participation and experiential learning and not on testing and evaluation.

This is a 6-credit class; however, tuition costs are limited to 4 credits, so it is a great deal!  It also counts for Discovery Learning Credit.

All students will be able to snorkel in this amazing coral reef environment. Those that are certified science divers through AAUS may dive with the research team   Those students who are not certified will have opportunities to get certified though a local dive shop.

All the course details and costs can be found here:
