Mt. Cuba Center’s Internship Program is designed to:
- Provide valuable skills, education, and experience that will help interns in their future professional endeavors.
- Connect interns with professionals in the field for networking and mentorship opportunities.
- Encourage and enable interns to pursue careers in conservation, public horticulture, or the nonprofit and cultural sectors.
- Create responsible environmental stewards and advocates for native plants and plant conservation.
Arboriculture Intern
The Arboriculture Intern will learn first-hand how Mt. Cuba Center’s arborists manage an extensive collection of trees located in the gardens and natural lands.

Greenhouse & Research Intern
The Greenhouse & Research Intern will participate in all aspects of greenhouse operations, plant propagation, and growing techniques to assist in the production of native plants in our indoor and outdoor growing facilities.

Horticulture Summer Intern
The Horticulture Summer Intern will gain hands-on fine gardening skills and a broad understanding of ecological gardening practices, working alongside expert horticulturists to learn how a top tier public garden manages complex and dynamic plantings.

Plant Conservation Summer Intern
The Plant Conservation Intern will job-shadow the plant conservation scientist during the summer field work season in the natural lands, naturalistic gardens, and office. Hands-on training will cover skills for plant identification and monitoring.
