Deerfield Golf Club located in Newark, De is looking for an intern that wants to learn about golf course agronomy and the careers that it offers. Our goal is to provide you with a well-rounded experience of working in the field of precision turfgrass management. With this experience you’ll be prepared to enter the turfgrass industry with a great understanding of what it takes to produce amazing turfgrass for golf, sports turf, and residential and commercial lawns.
Duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Sprayer and spreader calibration
- Chemical and fertilizer application
- Water management, hand watering
- Irrigation maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and improvements
- Course set-up
- Mowing of all playing surfaces
- Aerification and cultural practices (needle-tining, topdressing, etc.)
- Equipment operation on all machinery
- Partake in projects and small crew management
Job Requirements
- Prior golf course experience NOT required
- Must possess valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
- Dependable team player with positive attitude
