Rainwater Catchment for Emmanuel Dining Hall East/City of Love Church
Project Overview
This project includes the following tasks:
- Research rainwater catchment requirements in the State of Delaware, New Castle County, and the City of Wilmington.
- Apply all laws and regulations applicable to rainwater harvesting to this project. Create working plans for installation of the rainwater catchment system on the City of Love Church shed. Subsequently, create a parts and budget list for all necessary parts (not exceeding $2,700) to complete this project and informational packet on maintenance.
- Assist with the installation of all aspects of this project including the rainwater catchment system, a shed, and raised garden beds.
- Assist in creating promotional materials and holding educational workshops on indoor plants, gardening, and a harvest fest.
Deliverables
- Working plans for the installation of a rainwater catchment system on the City of Love Church shed.
- Parts list.
- Informational packet/sheet on maintenance.
- Promotional materials for educational workshops.
- Project poster for presentation at the University of Delaware Water Resources Center’s Advisory Board Meeting, May 2024.
- Final project report (May 2024).
Time Requirements
- Work 10 hours/week on this project, (150 hours by May 30th, 2024).
Payment Information
The student selected for this project will be funded by the University of Delaware Water Resources Center Undergraduate Internship Program. The University of Delaware Water Resources Center will support the student (150 hours) from January 30th – May 30th 2024 ($2,000).
