Job Description: The Technical Manager performs a variety of duties under the direction of the General Manager. They will perform various operational functions to ensure the effective operation of the company by ensuring that prescribed schedules, operating policies, and procedures are followed. | |
Primary Responsibilities: Lead the day-to-day technical operations to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly goals—serving as liaison in communicating with staff and vendorsManage and coordinate the technology infrastructure at our Landenberg and Oxford locations, which include:Wireless internet servicesDesktop/mobile workstationsEnvironmental control system interfaces (Damatex and Zwart boom systems)Serve as the company account representative for all technology vendorsOversee software migrations, base requirements/enhancement requests and acceptance testing in collaboration with technology vendorsProvide data compilation, analysis of production/sales figuresIdentify interesting trends in production data using innovative visualization toolsCreate and lead a change management strategy that mitigates technical pain points, explores process and communication improvements between departmentsLead analysis of existing operations and schedule meetings to discuss improvementsBeing transparent with senior staff about challenges, failures, and successesPerform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates Required Knowledge/Skills: 2-5 years of experience in a technical management position Comfort with data tasks, pivot tables and demonstrated knowledge of data visualization applications (PowerBI, Tableau) Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills Excellent computer skills (Excel), with ability to learn customized computer software; well versed in Microsoft Office 365 with a solid understanding of computers and wireless devices Highly organized with ability to write software requirements and assist in data migration solutions Excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills; must be able to communicate effectively in English—verbally and in writing Knowledge and experience developing applications with web technologies preferred, but not required Basic understanding of, or willingness to learn, electronic monitoring systems (Damatex and Zwart irrigation boom systems) North Creek Expectations: Adhere to standard work procedures, company policies and safety procedures Be reliable and consistent in attendance and punctuality, report to work on time; follow the timekeeping process Dedicated team player who steps up when someone needs help, follows through on commitments, and is willing to go the extra mile Keep supervisor informed Maintain a strong work ethic; be detail oriented, highly organized, able to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task Exercise initiative, showing excitement and enthusiasm about North Creek, displaying creative ideas for expansion and growth Invest the time and effort to do a good job; take pride in accomplishments Ability to organize thoughts well and express them in a clear manner that is well received Has a positive “can do / will do” outlook/attitude Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution to solve problems (ability to problem solve) Is able to produce results in a sometimes-chaotic situation, staying calm in difficult situations Maintain a clean working area (“start clean, work clean, finish clean”) Follow and sustain LEAN practices in day-to-day tasks Work in a safe manner, immediately reporting any unsafe conditions, acts or safety incidents Follow Systems Approach to Nursery Certification (SANC) practices in day-to-day tasks; strive for continual improvement of our facility practices and internal procedures Develop constructive and cooperative professional working relationships with others (staff and vendors), maintaining them over time Be mature, flexible, adaptable, and committed in approach to work As a representative of the company, must be dependable, consistent, and positive Goals / Objectives: Use pragmatic approach to technical issues and bottlenecks—taking pride in building sustainable long-term solutions and processes; collect feedback and implement direction confidently Identify patterns and trends in data Research external sources to implement new complex data visualization approaches for new applications Look for opportunities to cut operating expenses, reduce liability, increase profit—overall improve department/company efficiency Assist management team with overall goals to improve the quality of plants produced, grown, and shipped; achieve 100%, on-time order fulfillment; decrease the level of shrinkage in crops; make North Creek the most reliable producer of high-quality perennial liner material in North America; and strive to be an industry leader (and be recognized for it) in everything thing we do Continued education of all teams to help ensure a high level of plant quality from production, through growing and quality control until ship date following quality standards Physical Demands/Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs.
