What happened?
On Friday, September 20th, Delaware state library computer systems were compromised and taken offline due to a ransomware attack. The state has promised not to pay any ransom and will rebuild the servers from backups. The FBI is investigating the compromise, and no details are available yet as to the identity or whereabouts of the attackers.

The attack comes as public governments, networks, and libraries are suffering increasing cyber attacks. Earlier this year, essential services at the Seattle Public Library were offline for over three months after a ransomware attack.

Are UD systems impacted?
No services or systems at UD have been compromised.

Who is affected?
All internet and public-access computers in Delaware state libraries.

Patron information, eMedia services, and the Delaware Library Catalog have not been compromised and can be accessed by library goers via the internet.

Be alert and aware
Remember, if you identify a suspicious email, use the new Phish Alert Button in your email system to report it. Reporting suspected phishing emails helps to protect all users at UD.
