If you’re one of the 336 million Twitter users, you probably got an email sometime on Friday suggesting you change your account password. On Thursday, Twitter announced they discovered a bug that saved plain-text user passwords on an unprotected log. They’ve since fixed the issue and announced that no passwords have been leaked or misused, but they are still urging users to update or change their passwords.

Why should you change your password? Well, if you’re like most of the world, you probably use the same password on multiple sites. Say this bug did leak your Twitter password, what other accounts of yours might be compromised? Making sure none of your passwords are the same is just the smart thing to do — you’re responsible for your own security!
