Keeping with the trend of recent phone scams, we got a call from someone claiming to be “Chris from IT.” He said he was trying to assist a student who was having network troubles, and wanted us to go to a certain Web site and tell him if the page loaded. I guess I could, Chris, but I won’t.
Having confronted all of the “Chris from IT”s that I know (which, admittedly, is only one, and he works in the cubicle next to mine), I can reasonably assure you that none of them are making these calls. We don’t ask random people to check our network for us.
If you get a call like this, hang up and report it.
