Club News: June/July 2019

Hollymount – Gia Joella, Reporter
We began our May meeting with singing and dancing. We even played a few games! Once our activity session concluded, we began our business meeting. There, we discussed old and new business, like the upcoming Link Spring Fair. We then split into two groups and participated in two activities: making citizenship posters for the fair and thank-you cards for the generous people that donated to the spaghetti dinner. Our citizenship posters had pictures of us doing community service, and the thank-you cards looked wonderful after every member had signed them! Overall, this was a very fun meeting and it was a nice way to learn how our members give back to the community.

Our March meeting was on March 3, 2019. We began as normal with the American and 4-H pledges, then going over past or future events. We participated in the fourth part of 4-H by serving strawberries and water at the meeting. The craft we did in the meeting used roll-o’s, cotton balls, and index cards with rainbows and positive sayings on them. To do this craft you need to attach a roll-O to one of the index cards above where the rainbow meets the corner. You then need to add a cotton ball that has been lightly stretched below the role-o. This then makes a pot of gold(roll-o) at the end of a rainbow. This is what Lord Baltimore Helping Hands did for their March meeting.

Our April meeting was on April 7, 2019. We started the meeting by doing the 2 pledges and going over old and new events. We then started the craft for the gathering. We made cards for the meals on wheels clients. To do this we used paper eggs that were died by shaving cream with food coloring filtering through it and then being transported onto the paper. They then were placed on cards declaring Happy Easter in their own patterns and styles. This was our craft for the meeting.

After the first part of the meeting, we went to go to participate in the health portion of the meeting. To begin with, we played a game called Human Pretzel. To play this game a group of people twists themselves together so one person needs to unravel then to their beginning position. We then played this until everyone unraveled the group. Succeeding this we played bowling. This lasted until the end of the meeting. This was Lord Baltimore Helping Hands April meeting.

Bridgeville Mustangs – Riley Taylor Co-Reporter
Hello fellow 4-Hers! I am Riley Taylor, and I am co-reporter for the Bridgeville Mustangs. The Mustangs have been doing lots of fun activities.  We met with our club on May 9, 2019.  At our meeting, we shared many of the wonderful things our club members have been doing. We had a few members that attended Younger Member weekend and we had a few Junior Leaders that were counselors at Younger Member weekend. The kids said they loved attending this camp. They informed the club that they really enjoyed council circle. We also had members attend Legislative Day. The members absolutely loved this day. They had lots of fun learning about our state government.

Our club has several projects groups. The kids have loved taking part in the activities. Let’s get Crafty and the older Arts and Crafts groups have had a great time making more projects for the State Fair.  The Science Stuff group have been amazed by the science experiments they have been doing.

We have members that helped with the Farm Tours on May 14- May 16. We also discussed the spring link fair on May 18. The horse, consumer finance, and arts and craft group leaders are getting together and organizing a craft day where club members can come and complete fair entries. This will be held on Monday, May 27. The Fair is coming quick and the Mustangs are getting ready to show off all our hard work. Our members enjoy all the 4-H activities we get to take part in and look forward to future events. We can’t wait to meet on June 13 to find out all the cool things our members have been doing.
