Collecting
Adults are taken beating woody vegetation or by inspection of hosts (the species appear to be mostly host-specific). This genus (or subtribe) was found in abundance in canopy fogging samples from Ecuador.
Molecular resources
There is an assortment of Thionia data on Genbank (mostly taxa removed from the genus); Barcode of Life has data for several species, some removed from Thionia (Thionia bullata, T. ellipticus, T. gibbicollis, T. products, and T. simplex).
