Hello again everyone. The Annual MEGA election is here! The only positions with multiple nominees are the Social Chair and Treasurer, so I will post those bios first for those of you voting now. The election form is here, and you will have until Monday night (October 9th) to fill it out! Candidates for Social Chair:

Dheeraj Reddy’s Statement

I am excited to apply for the Social Chair position because I am deeply committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive social community within our graduate student body. Throughout my academic journey, I have witnessed the importance of building strong connections outside the classroom, and I believe that memorable social experiences can significantly enhance our graduate experience.

I bring to this role a passion for event planning, creativity, and a genuine desire to organize engaging and inclusive gatherings that cater to the diverse interests of our fellow students. By serving as Social Chair, I aim to create a welcoming and dynamic atmosphere where students can relax, connect, and form lasting friendships.

I look forward to the opportunity to contribute my skills and ideas to enrich the social aspect of our graduate community, creating memorable moments that will define our time here. Thank you for considering my candidacy.

Stergios Bachoumas’s Statememt

Having been an active member of our organization for a year, I bring a wealth of insider knowledge and enthusiasm to the role of Social Chair.

I served as Graduate Student Advocate, gaining deep insights into Mechanical Engineering students’ preferences. I’ve seen the impact of our events firsthand and am eager to enhance these experiences. My understanding of our organization’s history equips me to create future events that truly resonate with our members.

Masoud Ansari’s Statement

I’m excited to apply for the position of Treasurer! Having been involved in student organizations during my bachelor’s degree, I gained valuable experience that sparked my interest in financial management.

As Treasurer, my goal is to bring my skills and knowledge to ensure the organization’s finances are handled efficiently and transparently. I have a knack for budgeting, tracking expenses, and preparing financial reports, which will allow me to maintain accurate records and make informed decisions.

Being part of student organizations taught me the importance of responsibility and dedication to the community. I promise to uphold the highest standards of integrity and accountability in managing the organization’s finances.

If given the chance, I will work hard to improve the organization’s financial stability by implementing effective strategies and fostering open communication with the team. I believe that my skills, experience, and passion for meticulous financial management make me a suitable candidate for the Treasurer position.

I am applying for the secretary position because I am passionate about fostering effective communication, organization, and collaboration among our student body. As a dedicated student, I believe in the power of student-led initiatives to bring about positive change on our campus. My strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to teamwork make me well-suited for this role. I am eager to contribute my abilities to ensure that our association runs smoothly, our ideas are documented accurately, and our goals are achieved efficiently. If given the opportunity, I will work diligently to maintain transparent and accessible records, enabling all students to stay informed and engaged in our shared endeavors. I am excited about the potential to make a meaningful impact on our campus through this role and am dedicated to serving our student community to the best of my abilities

Parker Thomas Grobe

I am applying for the position of Vice President because I am enthusiastic about serving our Mechanical Engineering graduate student community at the University of Delaware. I believe in the importance of effective leadership in promoting a supportive atmosphere and addressing the unique needs of our members. If elected, I will work diligently to facilitate communication between students and faculty, organize meaningful events, and promptly address concerns. My goal is to ensure that MEGA remains a vital platform for student advocacy, especially in advocating for better pay and a stronger voice for graduate students. I am committed to leading our organization towards a successful and enriching graduate experience for all.

Annie Porter

Annie Porter’s Statement

My name is Annie and I am a 3rd year PhD student. This will be my third year on the MEGA board, serving first as intramural sports coordinator, and most recently as the social chair. As president, I want to continue building a graduate student community that is both beneficial to and inclusive of all students in the department. I will help graduate students in their dealings with the department, and work to address any concerns or grievances students may have.
