Thesis Topic: Valuable Chemical Production using Thermal Catalysts with Lower Greenhouse Gases
Research Description: Driven by sustainability initiatives, Mi Jen’s research consists of two branches: renewable material synthesis and novel zeolite development for gas-phase reactions. Her work on renewable material synthesis focused on polymer precursors from biomass feedstocks to replace traditional petroleum feedstocks with abundant renewable sources for the sustainable production of biphenyl molecules. Additionally, Mi Jen’s advances in boron-containing chabazite zeolite for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane demonstrates improvement in ethylene selectivity, reducing undesired byproduct formation of harmful greenhouse gases such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and methane.
