Local Exploration – Week 5
This week was mostly spent attending classes and doing some local exploration around Copenhagen! I visited the Museum of Copenhagen, the National Museum of Denmark, and Rosenborg Castle. Each museum was completely different and had a huge collection! I feel like I learned a lot about the history of Denmark and the city of Copenhagen from taking time to visit these museums. There was also an interesting exhibit in the National Museum about the history of money. The exhibit talked a lot about the value that we give to certain items and what this says about us as people. At nighttime, I also visited the Copenhagen Light Festival, a collection of various light institutions established by local artists around the city. The installations were placed in different locations around the city and it was a lot of fun exploring to find each one of them. Along with each installation, there is a short description detailing the construction and message of the design. A lot of the installations were focused on messages related to climate change and peace, it was really interesting! (Submitted on February 19, 2024)
