My second week in Spain has been just as amazing as the first! This week, we visited a few monumental places and did some fun activities with my classmates. More specifically, we visited the La Catedral de Granada and the Capilla Real. Both buildings were so beautiful and were deeply rich with so much history about the Reyes Catolicos, also known as Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand. It was shocking to see how important the history of this family is in Spain, but Granada especially. Obviously, such important people in history would be a hot topic for the Spanish citizens, but it was clear that there was another aspect of respect that was embedded in their view towards their history. In the buildings, we had to be very quiet, and in some we couldn’t talk at all, but it was still such a cool experience. Another fun thing we did was take a cooking class where we made a traditional Spanish dish which was a tortilla de patatas, ensalada pipirrana, crema catalana, and sangria. It was such a fun experience where I got to learn new words in the kitchen and connect with a Spanish chef. She taught us a lot about the origins of the food and we got a great meal out of it!
