Today we hiked Sugarloaf mountain. Our class hiked up the first peak and then took the cable car to the second. We went up by a combination of steep steps and rocks. Once we reached the top of the smaller portion, it was surprising to see many stores selling everything from fruit to souvenirs.
We then took the gondola up to the highest point. The view of the city was absolutely beautiful. We were able to see a lot of the city, including Guanabara Bay, some beaches, and even Christ the Redeemer. On our hike back down, we even saw a marmoset!
Overall, while the hike was somewhat challenging, the view was definitely worth it.
