Computational Research and High Performance Computing
More than 50 researchers at the University of Delaware are conducting research in computational sciences and high-performance computing. Computational disciplines span domain sciences in all eight research-oriented colleges, ranging from classical computational areas, such as physics and material science, to emerging compute-intensive fields in the social and environmental sciences.
Computational research at UD is strongly linked to research and infrastructure in enabling sciences, engineering, and IT support. There is also a tight connection with data-enabled sciences, driven by UD’s Data Science Institute. In fact, a Center within DSI (or Core Facility in UD terminology) for Data-intensive and Computational Science (DiCoS) serves as a nexus for these computational and data-driven research thrusts as well as for the enabling sciences, technology, and infrastructure.
