On this week’s episode of Campus Voices, we sat down with Dr. Danielle Dixson, an assistant professor in the University of Delaware’s College of Earth, Ocean and Environment. Dr. Dixson explained her research on horseshoe crabs, fish’s sense of smell, and majoid crabs. Additionally, she stressed the importance of environmental conservation, especially along the Delaware beaches.
Aside from teaching at UD, Dr. Dixson is a published children’s book author. She believes in the importance of making scientific research accessible to both children and their parents. Her goal is to help inspire children to want to work in STEM fields once they grow up.

Dr. Danielle Dixson is an assistant professor in marine biosciences here at the University of Delaware. Her research focuses on the sensory behavior of marine organisms, and how changes in their environment will impact their behavior. Dr. Dixson also focuses on coral reef ecosystems, as well as Delaware costal communities.
