This week we speak with Campus Voices founder and frequent host Richard Gordon on the occasion of his retirement from the University of Delaware. Richard reminisces about his 35-year career in UD’s IT department, his teaching career, the changes he’s seen at UD and in the Newark community, and his late-blooming interest in radio. He gives us insight into his path to becoming a major contributor to WVUD’s programming, the mechanics of producing a Campus Voices show, and the students he has mentored along the way. While he has retired from Campus Voices and moved to Pittsburgh, his involvement with radio continues there. Richard writes:
My new show, Whiskey Before Breakfast, airs on WRCT, 88.3 FM, Pittsburgh, PA, Wednesdays 11am – 1pm. It is rebroadcast on WMCK.fm, McKeesport, PA Sun 8-10am, Tue 1-3pm, and Wed 7-9pm AND rebroadcast on WVUD, 91.3 FM, Newark DE at 12:01am Thursday (just after midnight). Tune in for folk, bluegrass, Celtic, old-time and who knows what else!
In addition, Richard’s music interview program, The Music Room, still airs on WVUD on Tuesdays 11am-noon, and he still visits the area to play in the Old Time Country band Tater Patch. It’s almost like he’s still here!
